How Big is the problem?

The lack of sales capability in the United Kingdom is costing the UK economy some £270 billion each year, according to the Bank of England.

The CBI put the figure at between £150 billion and £190 billion. Either way, it’s a big number!

What is known is that the professional, B2B sales industry contributes £1.7 trillion to UK PLC and there are circa 950,000 people working in the industry.

That’s an average contribution of £1.8 million each.

We also know there are 91,000 open sales vacancies in the UK (including Sales, Business Development & Account Management).

91,000 x £1.8 million = £162 billion… so the CBI aren’t far out!

By addressing this shortfall, we can create opportunity, growth, prosperity and jobs and, consequently, raise living standards and improve the health and wellbeing of the nation!
